We enjoyed most of the food we ordered, im sure meat eaters would have a lot more options. FINAL VERDICT: The food and service could be a little better but the ambiance is absolutely amazing. The total bill for 1 cocktail, 3 small plates and 1 sushi combo was 50 dollars, which seemed alright cause we enjoyed out meal here. COST AND PORTIONS: The portions of all the dishes were quite small but that is typical of any sushi bar / Japanese restaurant. So even though they were nice enough to not charge us for a dish we did not like, i was not a big fan of the staff here. If almost seemed like they wanted to get rid of us. I appreciate the pace of the service but i do not like being rushed out. But again, the server got the check before we even asked for it and then he said he assumed we would want the check since we said we were full. Since we did not enjoy the okra at all, without asking, the server changed it for us in exchange of the lotus roots. The food was served quickly and there was a lady who always made sure our water glasses were constantly refilled. Finally when our server showed up he was nice enough to explain the menu and give details about the dishes. We got here, were seated right away and for quite sometime no one from the serving staff served us any water or attended to us. I personally did not enjoy the lotus roots and i did not even try the okra since it looked like it had absolutely nothing on it and was raw. The flavour of the shiitake mushrooms was very mild but still very delectable. The eggplant was absolutely delicious- a big slice of grilled eggplant topped with three types of miso. ![]() The veg sushi combo was great, with 4 pieces of avocado and asparagus roll and assortment of other veg sushi. Not something i enjoyed but some people would enjoy the refreshing mix of green tea and alcohol. We went ahead and tried pretty much all the veggie dishes they had on the menu (which were very few) OUR OURDER: - Green Tini - Veggie sushi combo - eggplant - grilled shiitake mushrooms - grilled okra - lotus roots The green tini was a little offbeat. Being a vegetarian surely limits the options to a few dishes. The bar menu was extensive with lots of interesting cocktails. ![]() FOOD: The menu consisted of sushi, grilled food, skewers, salads, meals in a bowl, desserts, etc. ![]() Im sure on a friday or saturday night the place would be hustling and bustling with great music, drinks and ambiance. The overall feel was very laidback and relaxing. On a Thursday evening, the rooftop was almost fully occupied. Its a very chic and urban place which seems upscale. The place is decorated beautifully with plants, flowers, colorful chairs, stings of bulbs, white tables, etc. They have an indoor bar and dining area with a more formal set up. AMBIANCE: This eatery is located very close to Adams morgan on level 2 above another restaurant. It was a lovely spring evening hence we decided to give it a shot. It looked pretty interesting as DC has very few rooftop places. We were looking for sushi in DC on a weeknight and came across Perry's on a food blogging website.
